COVID-19

Pathogen genomics has been a critical tool in Australia’s response to COVID-19, enabling rapid and precise understanding into the behaviour, characteristics and evolution of the virus. Using AusTrakka, public health laboratories (PHL) have been able to rapidly identify and investigate multi-jurisdictional outbreaks and provide nationally consistent reporting for genomics as part of the Australian National Disease Surveillance Plan for COVID-19. AusPathoGen will continue to support the COVID-19 activities undertaken at a national level to understand the behaviour, spread and evolution of the virus.
